I am associated with CYBERMOUNT Solutions as the Managing Director of the company. My role includes checking the current levels of demand and supply in the online market with respect to web design and development services. I have been working as an entrepreneur in the fields of manufacturing and IT for past 12 years. My current objective is to set the CYBERMOUNT brand on global platform. Besides this, I am also working as an independent author/writer in the context of current online services available in the market.

We have entered an age where the internet is ruling the roost. Google has become the undisputed king and having websites is seen as a necessity. However, you still find many organizations and businesses that have not set up their own websites till now.

Reasons for this might be:

• They think that they are not that big to have a website
• They work independently, or with just a couple of employees
• They think that their service is not something which will sell online
• Website development is quite a complex affair and consumes time
• They think survival without possessing business websites is possible

Though these may be valid points in most cases, the fact cannot be negated that having business websites is essential; irrespective of what your reasons are. You just cannot avoid it in this internet age. People search the net for just about everything. Moreover, not having a website is considered as below standard and people tend to believe that such businesses are not trustworthy. There is nothing to be surprised here as this is perfectly true. So, though you may think this is time consuming and complex, with the advent of WordPress development for website, things have become easier. This is because, WordPress is easy to operate and also keeping your website updated periodically is extremely easy.

So, now you understand how important it is to have a website. So, you have decided to take the plunge? WAIT! Surprised again? Well, don’t just rush into this activity. Consider giving some important aspect a serious thought. Let’s see what these aspects are.

Set you priorities and agenda

The most important part before you get your website developed is to set goals. No, these are not business goals, but are goals that you expect your website to fetch for you with regards to your business aims.

Again, this is not something very tedious; just get a pen and notepad and start jotting down important points. Ask some important questions to yourself (even if these seem quite obvious). These questions will help in clarifying aspects related to goals you expect to achieve from your website and aid in building a plan. The answers you jot down for these questions will always accompany you with relation to some finer points when the actual website development begins.

Goal setting is extremely vital

Yeah, Yeah!! This not the apparent which states “I want more business.” Dig deeper. Try to be specific. Remember the intent of developing business website varies for everyone. If your website is for business, then what needs to be the primary activity you expect from visitors coming to your pages? Do you need them to fill out some contact form? Do you expect them to contact you immediately? Do you want to sell some product or service right away?

There is a difference between goals and means. To explain clearly, if you expect people to view your awesome portfolio, this will not become you goal, but it is source of making people contact you. Selling your service is the goal. Quite similarly, prompting people to like Facebook pages needs to be given second importance than call to action, if selling products and services is a priority. This is how you can prioritize things according to your expectations.

This prioritization will set the pace for how you get your homepage developed. For example, if getting more likes for Facebook pages is a priority, then this LIKE button has to be prominently placed and visible, unlike in the case where product selling is a primary intent.

Next in line is your target audience

If you want a successful website, forgetting this will backfire. You need to spare a thought for existing customers and plan according to the potential ones. The age group of this target is also important. What will this particular age group like? What can you include on your website to impress this particular group? How will these people come to know about your website?

Remember that if you target group is above 50 years, having jazzy images and funky flash will not impress them. Such things impress teenagers and youngsters. This means that you need to think from your client perspective. Empathize with them and things will become easier.

Make a mark…right away

Now that you have made plans and are set for development, find some professional company that is proficient in WordPress customization and begin. Remember that your website is a 24X7 sales person for you. Ensure that this sales agent is loaded with everything required for making an impact…right away.

So, goals are set, website is developed…rejoice friends. You are on your way to a successful business journey.
